William Utermohlen was an artist who painted a new portrait every year for 8 years, from the moment he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, to the time when he forgot to send in his final portrait. The transformation is heart-wrenching.

If you’ve ever known someone who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, this might strike close to home. I know it brought a tear to my eye. But there’s something so powerful about watching this transformation in self-portrait form, I think it’s worth sharing.
